Topic:
Unable to save a calibrated sonic log in Tools > Velocity Survey.
Description:
Attempt to save a calibrated sonic log in Tools > Velocity Survey. Receive error message: No log class of SONIC.
Solution:
Use an edited checkshot as the time/depth relationship in the synthetic panel and it will do the sonic calibration on the fly. It uses the Linear calibration method rather than a point to point calibration. 1.) Select the checkshot in Define > Time/Depth... and toggle the relationship to checkshot or preferred checkshot, dependent on what checkshot you want to use. 2.) Make sure the checkshots are properly edited before using them to do the pseudo calibration in Tools > Velocity Survey... by editting out any "bad" checkshots so they do not create a reflection coefficient where there should not be one. 3.) Calibrate. Look at the results of the calibrated and uncalibrated logs plotted over each other. 4.) Save Data... to save the edited checkshots and make them the preferred DVT since the calibrated sonic curve cannot be saved at this point. 5.) Redisplay the synthetics panel using the edited checkshot in the DVT panel. If you use the above workaround it should give you the same results as if you used a calibrated log, minus any above the top of log calibration that may have occurred in a normal calibration sequence. RESOLUTION: Fixed in GeoFrame 3.6
