Topic:
Unable to find the closest color; cannot enter grid annotation

Description:
Unable to display the color spectrum;
Cannot enter grid annotation without getting an error "unable to find the
closest color".

Solution:
The map appearance file for the current map has been corrupted.  Create a new map appearance file and a new map picture files.  

If the error message appears for all Basemaps, close the Basemap application, 
then delete all the map content, appearance and picture files (DataManager > 
Map > Delete; select all files and 'Delete selected map files only' and click 
the 'Delete' button).  Then open the Basemap and the default map files will be 
generated automatically.
