Topic:
Well deviation callback failed. could not create a horizontal or updip deviation.

Description:
Loading or manually entering a Deviation Survey in MD caused the load to fail with the following message: "Well deviation callback failed, could not create a horizontal or updip deviation".

Solution:
Note: If this really is horizontal or updip data, the software at this time cannot handle it. 1.) First, check the z values for repetition or reversals in values. 2.) If they are OK, you may want to test the MD X's and Y's data, the calculation for horizontal or updip well is as follows: a.) Take two consecutive pairs of x,y,z triplet values. b.) Calculate the difference of those values, square the x and y value, and take the square root of the sum. c.) The difference of the measured depth z value must be greater than the square root of the sum in order for it to be considered a valid deviation survey. In other words, the following expression must be TRUE: Square root ((X difference)^2 + (Y difference)^2) < Z difference This could be tested more easily if you dump the deviation survey into a spreadsheet program with the above formula created for the appropriate cells. Horizontal or updip wells are supported in GeoFrame 3.1.x.
