Solution:
This is a swap space/memory limitation issue. 

Check the swap space : 
	For SGI use swap -s
	For Sun use /usr/sbin/swap -s
Try:
   -Closing any other running applications. 
   -Logging out and log back into project.
   -Running Areal > Snap over a smaller area using a rectangular path.

 
It can also indicate an error related to number of traces to be snapped.

Areal snap fails on large 3D surveys or large parts of those surveys.
It works on up to approximately 5 million traces, so define a rectangular path
for the areal snap operation occordingly.

This is a bug in IESX 10.x, as well as GeoFrame 3.0 and 3.1.
It is fixed in GeoFrame 3.5.
