Topic:
Memory allocation of xxxx bytes failed.
Description:
When working in Basemap and trying to do routine operations, such as posting interpretation or gridding operations, you receive the following error message: Memory allocation of 30426622 bytes failed. And are unable to continue to use basemap because this reappears any time you attempt to do any new operations.
Solution:
The main issue with this error message is workstation memory usage. A quick check is to use the df -kl command to check on swap space usage. The total amount of swap space available will be incorrect once you have received this error. This indicates that your workstation has no additional memory left to devote to Basemap operations. Exiting IESX will release the memory.
