Topic:
Exploration bounds of 3D survey do not match map bounds of survey.
Description:
IESX Error: Exploration bounds of 3D survey do not match map bounds of survey.
Data that cannot be converted due to the mismatch will not be
displayed. Error is received while launching CPS Link, but user is
able to dismiss and proceed. How can this be corrected?
CAUSE: The same 3D survey is loaded with differing corner points in multiple
projects or surveys within a project, then shared into multiple classes
under the same survey in an interpretation project.
+------------------------------+
| +-----------+ |
| +------|-------+ A | |
| |B | | | |
| | +-----------+ |
| +--------------+ |
+------------------------------+
Example: A is a survey in project A. B is a survey in project B. These are
both subsets of the same data, i.e., they have the same CDP/Line origin. Each
of these surveys was entered with different corner points and produced a shift
based on extrapolation.
Solution:
1) Dismiss error and exit CPS Link.
2) In DataManager > Map > 3D Survey Origin
-Select survey
-Select Apply
-Select OK to confirm
-Select Yes, to confirmation box 'Moving the survey will not move any of the
fault traces which may be defined on it.
3) Relaunch CPS Link
This procedure reties the 3D survey, which corrects the problem.
Also corrected are MapView surfaces that would not post and voxel volumes that
loaded incorrectly. If this message continues to appear, check your master
seismic project and follow the procedure below to correct the problem.
In the master project:
1) Create a new class which spans the complete CDP/line range of the survey.
To do this, use DataManager > Seismic > Load Seismic.
Create a new class and load the first and last in line representing the
entire survey.
2) In DataManager > Map > 3D survey origin enter the 3 known corners of the
survey. The 3D survey origin location will recalculate out to the full
extent of the survey.
3) Exit master project.
In the clone project:
4) Share the full extent of the new class from the master.
DataManager > Seismic > Share
5) Enter 3 known corners of survey.
DataManager > Map > 3D survey origin
share in the new class.
Using the full extent of the survey origin, the 3D survey will
be recalculated out to the full extent of the survey.
This problem could have been avoided by using the same 3 corners when loading
the different areas of the same survey in the different projects. Determine the
which 3 corners are going to be used throughout all master and clone projects
prior to creating the 3D surveys. These values must be the same, just as the
CDP and Line origin must match in master and clone projects.
