Solution:
File permissions should be checked first, but it may also mean something else:
seismic share tries to create a temporary file with a size of up to
approximately 10 megabytes in /tmp. (In earlier versions of GeoFrame before 3.5
it was putting this file in user home directory.) If there is not enough free
space in /tmp share will fail with this error message.

This temporary file gets deleted by GeoFrame after share is completed without
user intervention.
