Topic:
'Volume in use by another process' error while trying to display a seismic line.
Description:
When picking a line to display in IESX, user intermittantly gets the message:
Volume in use by another process
This will only occur when picking lines from part of the data.
Solution:
Cause:
This error indicates that a process is actually using the particular seismic
volume file (VVOL) you're trying to access. This may be the case if you are
running, for example, Computation Manager processes, or ASAP. However it is
more likely that nothing else is active in the project. If this is the
situation then you have a corrupted VVOL file.
Resolution:
1) Restore the project from a backup prior to the problem.
or
2) Another option would be to Use Seis%DV to get a fairly accurate estimate of
the area effected by trial and error. You can then reload just this portion of
the data from SEG-Y. If the seismic data loading fails with error, run
IESX_Util option 57 - Correct duplicate seismic brick maps. Some minimal data
loss will occur since the process will mark the corrupted seismic bricks
internally. However, sebsequential data reloading should be a success.
