Topic:
How to quickly delete undesired log values.
Description:
I want to automatically eliminate log values which are obviously too large
or too small. How can I do this?
Solution:
There are three methods to do this. The first method is single curve, methods
two and three allow up to eight curves to be choosen at a time.
1.) LPView > Log Preparation #2 > Environ. Correction #2 > Range Limiting #3
a.) Parameters #1 > set the beginning depth and end depth, set lower and
upper curve limit > then set to 'include' or 'exclude' the range limit
choice.
b.) Change Curves #2 > Choose the curve to be operated on. Single curve
only.
c.) To compute hit > Compute/Display #3 > This will graphically display the
before edit and after edit curve > Save Data #5 > to save and store the
edited curve. Quit #6 > to exit edit without saving the edited curves.
2.) LPView > Log Preparation #2 > Edit Log #1 > Graphic Edit #1
a.) Change Edit Function #3 > Range Limit #7
b.) Choose Curve Set #1 > Choose log or logs to edit, up to eight.
Note: The first curve displayed in the edit window is a guide curve
only. It is not an editable curve, so only seven curves are editable.
c.) Click MB1 on Restore/Edit Curves #4 > This will display the curves to
the screen > To edit you have two options from this point; 1.) MB1 on
Edit/Range Limit #1 > Using MB1 to digitize over the portion of log you
want edited > it applies either a NIL value or replacement value.
What is applied during this edit is set in Parameters #5 > Parameters #1
MB1 digitizes points in > MB3 brings up the popup window which allows
you to 'break' to edit multiple portions of the log, 'exit' to complete
the edit, 'quit' to quit the edit without doing any editing, and 'Del.
All' to delete all edits to start over.
d.) Once you have made your edits > Apply Correction #6 > Save Curves #2 >
Choose curves to save > Save Data #1 > hit return to right the edited
curve > the original log curve will have "Range Limit:" appended to
it, it won't over write the original curve. If a "Range Limit" curve
exists you will get prompted to to either overwrite or give a new name
to the edited log curve.
3.) LPView > Log Preparation #2 > Edit Log #1 > Keyboard Edit #2
a.) When you click MB1 on Keyboard Edit #2 you will recieve a menu with 14
options. Option '11' allows you to enter a depth top and bottom zone
to apply a NIL value to this zone. Only one edit zone and one log at a
time. NIL #11 > Parameters #1 (set top & bottom zones) > Change Curves
#2 (Choose curve to edit) > Compute/Display #3 (graphical display) >
Save Data #5 > Save Data #1. See above for save procedures.
