What does Option #42: Delete missing files do?
Description:
Solution:
This option reconciles file inventories to match existing files.
This function will attempt to remove the inventory records for files that have
accidentally been removed from the project. Some files are critical to the
project and their records cannot be deleted using this function. All db_*
files, all seismic volume (*vvol) files and all horizon container (*.surf) files
must exist.
TIPS:
1.) Restoration of missing files from a backup is the preferred solution.
2.) Sometimes files are not actually missing but are located on another DSL.
Simply finding where the files are and unix moving them to where the
inventory thinks they should be will solve the problem.
3.) Some files can be touched (unix created empty file) if you do not have a
backup, but a new project should then be created and data copied/merged
to it.
4.) This function runs an index rebuild for file integrity so refer to the
'How to' section on option #12 before running this option.
5.) If this function finds missing files, hit "c" to continue and it will queue
you for each item it finds a file missing and asks if you want to delete
it. Selecting "e", exits the function without deletion.
PROCEDURE:
1.) Option #1 - Initialize access to data area
- Enter the project name and password
- Select Exploration as Data Area Type
2.) Option #42 - Delete missing files
- Type in pathname of directory with enough space for temporary files that
will be created during the rebuilding process.
- Should display **** REBUILT CTREE SUCCESSFULLY *****
- Hit return.
- Type e to exit if didn't find any missing files.
3.) Option #2 - Terminate access to the data area
4.) Option #99 - Exit IESX_Utilities
