What are Mappable Seismic Statistics (MSS) and what can I use them for?

Mappable seismic statistics (MSS) are taken from the trace headers. They are
either copied from the original SEGY trace headers at loading time or are computed at loading time, and stored in the IESX trace headers.
 
-In some cases these values may not be present in the IESX trace headers
because they were not present in the original data at loading time.

Besides information loaded from the SEGY trace headers, MSS can provide the
user an overview of certain amplitude characteristics within the seismic volume.
