Description:
Is there any way to speed up borehole posting on SeisDV under GeoFrame?
Borehole posting on SeisDV tends to be slower under GeoFrame than it was
in IESX standalone. This slowdown is a result of IESX querying Oracle and
the bulk storage area for well locations, deviation surveys, checkshot surveys,
log curves, markers, etc.
Solution:
There are a couple of techniques that can be used to speed up the posting of
the boreholes on SeisDV under IESX/GeoFrame.
1) You can limit the number of boreholes in the borehole set. This limits the
amount of boreholes IESX needs to query to find out whether it needs to post
them on a particular seismic line.
2) You can limit the distance over which IESX tries to post the wells to the
seismic line. Under Define-->Borehole appearance-->Vertical you can set
the maximum horizontal distance away from a line at which a borehole will
post. Here you can toggle the bottom and range off so IESX only bases the
posting distance on surface location. This will speed up the posting because
it eliminates the calculations made by GeoFrame.
3) You can improve the hardware performance. Upgrading the workstation,
memory, and network transaction speed should also help to speed up borehole
posting. A standalone system will be faster since it does not have to access
data across the network.
Note: GeoFrame 3.5 will include enhanced performance features to help with the
posting speed of boreholes in SeisDV.
