Topic:
What is the recommended 2D data loading sequence?

Description:

Solution:
1.) Create a project. 2.) Examine the tapes (SEG-Y dump several traces to verify the following): Is the tape readable? Is the line name present? Is the sp number present and in what header location? Is the sp increment positive or negative? Is the sp increment less than one? Is the sample rate correct (should be in microseconds)? Is the number of samples correct? 3.) Review the station locations information to determine the following: What is the overall format? What are the line names being used for the seismic lines? What is the sp range in the location data? Do any header records exist in the file? Are there any bad or blank records in the file? 4.) Load the 2D seismic lines using your best estimate for the sp. 5.) Enter Seis2DV and display a few lines. Verify that the sp are reasonable. Verify the integrity of the seismic trace data. 6.) Load the 2D station locations. 7.) Enter Basemap, display the sp on a map and check. 8.) Select lines from the Basemap and compare the sp range displayed for the seismic data with that of the Basemap. Select composite lines to verify that the line ties have been computed correctly.
