Topic:
What does "this will overwrite the tar file" mean in exporting markers to IES?

Description:
When exporting markers into IES, the confirmation box states "this will overwrite the tar file, continue yes or no?". What does this mean?

Solution:
The tar file it is referring to is the formation.tops file, located in the project directory, where all the markers in IES are stored. If you have already have markers in the IES part of IESX, exporting markers from IESX to IES will result in the marker file being overwritten and any markers that are not in the IESX export will be lost. The suggestion is to load all your markers in either IESX or IES, then export all to the other. Do not do partial loads to both sides and then export. NOTE: IES has a limit of 90 marker names which can only contain 999 marker values. IESX has a limitation of 4200 marker names and unlimited marker values. Please refer to the "How to" on loading or exporting more than 90 markers in IES: PRODUCT: IESX VERSION: 10.2 APPLICATION: IES Data Management SEARCH TYPE: HowTo
