Solution:
 The formats are described in detail in the online help pages.

- Launch IESX Help from Geonet > IESX.
- Select Version 10px.
- Help on IESX Applications.
- Select Next Page until you see Surface Modeling and select.
- From list of topics in the right hand column scroll down by selecting the 
  'More...' above the 'Contents' button to the end of the list.
- Under 'ASCII Formats' select the format to be examined.
