What type of information does ' Well penetration ' provide?
Description:
What type of information does ' Well penetration ' provide and where do I go to get this information.
Solution:
Well penetraion is the annotation of the penetration of a borehole in a horizon.
The number that is posted is the time at which the borehole penetrates the horizon.
Well penetration is setup under Basemap > Define > Wells > Well appearance.
Toggle on the button marked "penetrations.
Tips of what to look for if you can't post the penetration points in basemap:
- Make sure you have selected a symbol for the penetraton
- Check to make sure that the well has had a velocity applied to it that goes
down to at least the same time of the horizon being posted.
- Make sure that the deviation survey has valid points.
- Horizon must go over the point of penetraton, if not, it will not post. If
you snapped a horizon and it has holes in the interpretation over the point
of penetration, you will need to pick your horizon over that hole. A sure
way to check is to bring up a Seis2D/3DV window, post the well, post the
horizon and see if it crosses. If there is a fault over that area, it will
not post the penetration.
- You can only post penetration points on a time map, not an amplitude map.
