Topic:
Deleted interpretation, but do not gain any disk space.
Description:
After deleting interpretation, disp and surf files are still the same size.
Solution:
IESX applications allocate disk space dynamically to store seisimic data and
interpretation data. The basic storage unit is called a 'brick'.
Some deletion operations do not dynamically remove 'bricks' but mark them free
for use by subsequent data creation operations.
Therefore, when some interpretation is deleted the space it was using is made
available for re-use but the actual disk space is not recovered, only made
free to store later/further interpretation.
If it is required that all interpretation for all surveys in a project be
deleted it is recommended to use :
- IESX_UTILS Option # 21 - Delete all interpretation for a project.
Ths deletes all .disp and .surf files and associated key files, not just
the data from the files, thus the disk space is recovered immediately.
