Data Input/Output - What files can be read and what can be written in MapView?

Description:

Solution:
READ DATA SOURCE OPTION FILE MapView CREATED Updated horizon time IESX select horizon(time) binary yes horizon amp. IESX select horizon(amp) binary yes fault time IESX select fault binary yes fault trace IESX select horizon(time) binary yes* horizon time BINARY select horizon(time) none yes** horizon amp. BINARY select horizon(amp) none yes** fault time BINARY select fault none yes horizon time BINARY Read XYZ data none yes*** horizon amp. BINARY Read XYZ data none yes*** fault time BINARY Read XYZ data none yes*** Grid data BINARY Read grid data none yes*** Contour data BINARY Read contour data none yes*** XYZ data CARD Read XYZ data none yes Grid data CARD Read grid data none yes Contour data CARD Read contour data none yes *Note: Fault traces may be input to MapView only if defined in IESX. IESX fault traces are referenced by both horizon and fault. All fault traces for a given horizon are accessed with the horizon time data. Fault traces may be interactively defined in MapView and written into IESX. **Note: These items refer to the situation where the user decides to access the same IESX horizon or fault data for a second time. The data will actually be read from the binary file files created when the user initially asked for this data. ***Note: You may access the binary files directly using the option to read XYZ, Grid, or Contour data. The binary file names will appear on the list along with any card files that have been created. Binary files contain header information about the existence of the other files for the same surface. If you load a binary XYZ file, MapView will also laod the Grid and Contour binary files for that surface automatically, if they exist. Grid and contour files laoded in this way will write over the current grid and contours residing in MapView. WRITE DATA SOURCE OPTION FILES MAPVIEW CREATED UPDATED data points MapView Write XYZ data card none grid data MapView Write Grid data card none contour data MapView Write Contours card none data points MapView Update MapView IESX none binary grid data MapView Update MapView IESX none binary contour data MapView Update MapView IESX none binary fault trace MapView Update MapView IESX none binary surface cuts MapView Save Surface cuts none IESX fault trace MapView Update fault traces none IESX * *Note: Fault traces, from MapView, may only be added to IESX if the surface currently exists as a horizon in IESX. The MapView output options called WRITE will create card format files. The options labeled UPDATE will cause only binary files to be updated or created.
