Topic:
What do the direction arrows in Correlation Mapping mean?
Description:
When defining the parameters for correlation mapping the user can select a
horizontal arrow, a vertical arrow, a diagonal arrow, or various combinations
and directions for these arrows.
What do these arrows mean?
Solution:
Correlation Mapping computes the correlation between adjacent traces.
In general a given trace will have adjacent traces which are north, northeast,
east, southeast ....etc.
These arrows specify which of the adjacent traces will be used.
The horizontal line indicates the adjacent trace lies on the same in-line.
The vertical line indicates the adjacent trace lies on the same crossline.
The diagonal arrow indicates that the adjacent trace differs from the first
trace by one line and one cdp.
Note that if the line spacing is not equal to the cdp spacing the diagonal does
NOT mean the adjacent trace is at a 45 degree angle with the in-line direction.
