Topic:
Calculating instantaneous frequency gives poor coverage over interpretation.
Description:
Calculating instantaneous frequency gives poor coverage over interpretation. The resulting coverage is very 'spotty', i.e. has not calculated the instantaneous frequency over majority of the interpretation. History of the procedure and parameters that were set: Picked on a trough and used ASAP to pick over the survey. Filled in holes by Horizon interpolation on Basemap. In CSA, ran instantaneous frequency attribute for this horizon with Window 100 ms above and below, start position as pick negative and event set to largest.
Solution:
By setting the snapping parameters to none, the attribute was calculated over the entire interpretation. By setting the snapping parameter to largest, the program is hunting over the time window and unless it finds the largest it will not perform the calculation.
