Topic:
Why are my fault contacts not always assigned when my faults are?
Description:
Deleting a small part of the horizon around the fault and re-picking so that
the contacts are correctly assigned and can be interpreted on the basemap is
time consuming if assigning a large number of faults.
Solution:
You need to place contacts closer to your fault.
The program will make the contact "unassigned" if the contact is not
placed within the "hit range" of your fault.
Apparently it could not find the fault to snap to.
The hit range is a 5 pixel distance to the fault.
Therefore if you are zoomed out you may be several traces away from the
fault and it will still snap the contact to the fault.
If you are zoomed in very close you might be less than a trace spacing
away from the fault but it will not snap to the fault if you are more
than 5 pixels away when you select 'contact' from the interpretation menu.
So, just place the contact really close to the trace your fault crosses.
