How is grid rotation defined?
Description:
Solution:
Grid rotation is measured as positive in the counter-clockwise direction.
What will be the column spacing/row spacing in a rotated grid?
For example, create a grid with row spacing of 1000, and column spacing of 2500.
Unrotated grid => the spacing in the x direction will be 2500 ft.
Rotated 20 degrees => grid nodes on WSW - ENE line will be 2500 ft.
Rotated 70 degrees => grid nodes on SSW - NNE line will be 2500 ft.
ie. the rows and columns are rotated with the same angle.
The nodes might be distributed something like this when posted in basemap:
x
x
x
x x
x
x
x
Such a grid would be useful when attempting to model a feature striking ENE.
