What are some of the terms used in IESX Data Manager?
Description:
Solution:
The following are terms used in IESX Data Manager:
Class - A class is a version of seismic data. eg. "migration" or "filtered".
A seismic class is created by specifying a name for that class and then
populating the trace data through the loading or data creation applications.
The terms "class" and "volume" are often used interchangeably.
Volume - A volume is a disk file or collection of disk files that contain the
actual seismic trace data for a given class. The terms "volume" and "class"
are often used interchangeably.
Path - A path is any portion of the seismic data to be operated on. A path may
be a 2D seismic line, a traverse, a composite line, some subset (rectangle or
polygon) of a 3D class or the entire 3D class of seismic data.
Reference - When using the Share facility in IESX, a link is made to external
seismic classes in other IESX projects. These links are referred to as
"references". There are two types :
Outgoing references - links from another project to the current project.
Incoming references - links from the current project to another project.
Survey - A survey is a collection of 2D and/or 3D seismic lines with one or more
classes of data. A 2D survey contains only 2D lines and a 3D survey contains
only 3D lines.
