Topic:
Specific rules for posting horizontal/upturned boreholes on SeisDV.
Description:
What rules are there, if any, that allow horizontal or upturning boreholes to be
posted in Seis%DV?
Solution:
1. MD values are essential for posting along the upturned borehole path.
2. When a log is loaded as TVD it will stop posting at the first upturned point.
3. When a log is loaded as MD it will post its entire length.
4. When a marker is input as TVD it will only calculate one time value,
at the first occurrence of that time along the deviation path.
5. When a marker is input as Time it will only post once, at the first
occurrence of that time.
6. When a marker is input as MD it will post at the appropriate position on the
deviated borehole path. This is the only way to post a marker along the
upturned portion of the deviation survey.
7. A synthetic trace will stop posting at the first upturned point.
Note: Boreholes without a deviation survey are treated as straight holes,
i.e.: MD = TVD.
