Topic:
How to copy seismic data from one project into another.
Description:
Notes: 1.) Check to be sure you have plenty of disk space in current project. 2.) You have to share seismic first in order to copy. 3.) You must create a new class to copy to.
Solution:
1.) To check for disk space: Session Manager > Project > Update - Select project and input password. - Select Seismic DSL's and verify disk space. See 'How to' on how to add more disks to a project. 2.) To share seismic data: DataManager > Seismic > Share - Select project - Select survey - Select 'Share' and 'Dismiss' 3.) To copy the seismic data: DataManager > Seismic > Copy - Select survey and 2d lines if 2D data. - Select Input class - Type in output class name. - Click 'Change Area or Path (3d rectangular path)' to change area of interest if desired. Defaults to whole line or whole survey. - Click 'Generate'. 4.) Unshare original seismic: DataManager > Seismic > Share - Select survey in 'Remove outgoing references' - Click 'Unshare'. Things to keep in mind: When you first Share, it will copy all the navigation into the project doing the sharing. If you only wanted to copy lets say 20 lines out of a 100 that were in the survey that was shared, you get stuck with 80 lines of navigation you don't want to see. To get rid of the 80 lines of navigation, you can go to: Data Manager > Seismic > 2D Surveys > Create 2D survey. Type in a new survey name and click 'OK'. Under '2D surveys', on the left hand side, pick the original survey name, then under '2D lines' select the 20 lines that you want to keep from the original copy. On the right hand side, pick the new survey name under '2D surveys' then press the 'Move' button in the middle. Now, all the lines you selected will be moved into the '2D lines' box on the right side. Press 'Dismiss' at the bottom. Now, delete that original survey and unwanted lines under DataManager > Utilities > Delete > toggle 'Item type' to 2D surveys, select the original survey you copied the lines from, and press the 'Delete' button. If you really liked that original survey name, you can always go to Data Manager > Utilities > Rename, toggle 'Item type' to 2D surveys and type in the old survey name at the bottom under 'New name'.
