Topic:
How to post a seismic survey on the Basemap.
Description:
After seismic data is loaded into a project, the data can be seen in a
Seis3DV/2DV window, but the survey does not post in a Basemap which already
created.
Solution:
When a Basemap is created, it is defined with a Map Content file, a Map
Appearance file and a Map Picture file. The map contains a series of layers
defined in the Map Content file, and the appearance of those layers is defined
in the Map Appearance file. The combination of the Map Content file and the
Map Appearance file defines the Map Picture file which is then selectable for
displaying in the Basemap.
When a Basemap has already been created in the project, the newly loaded seismic
data is not contained within the layers of the existing Basemap files.
Therefore, you must create a new map which contains the new seismic survey. To do so:
1.) Define > Map > Map Content
a. at the top of the menu, enter a new name and description
b. the 'Data selected' part of the menu contains the different layers
which will be available for posting on the newly defined map; make
certain that the new seismic survey is in the 'Data selected' list;
do this by selecting it from the 'Data available' list
c. click on the 'Create' button at the bottom of the menu
2.) Define > Map > Map Appearance
a. you can either update an existing map appearance file, or create a
new one; either select a map appearance file at the top left of the
menu, or enter a name for a new map appearance at the top right of
the menu
b. at the central right section of the menu, click on the
'Add/delete/order layers' button
c. in the 'Layers available' list, select the newly loaded seismic
survey, and then click on the 'Top =>' or the 'Bottom =>' button
to place the layer at the top or the bottom of the list for posting,
or click at an insertion point in the 'Layers selected' list
d. click the 'OK' button
e. click the 'Create' or 'Update' button depending on whether you are
creating a new map appearance file or updating an existing one
3.) Define > Map > Picture file
a. select a map content file at the upper left of the menu
b. select a map appearance file at the upper right of the menu
c. enter a name for a new map picture file
d. click on the 'Create' button
e. click on the 'Dismiss' button, and by default, the new map picture
will display on the Basemap
