Topic:
How to move IES markers from one project to another.
Description:
Solution:
To move IES markers from one project to another, you must export the markers from one project to an ASCII file and then import the ASCII file to the other project. To export markers from one project to an ASCII file: 1.) Session Manager > Application > IES Data Management* 2.) Execute management UTILITIES 3.) Execute OS COMMANDS in a subprocess 4.) At the prompt, enter '$TOOLS/info' 5.) PRINT WELL INFO 6.) Set the well name, z units, depth units, format and output file as desired. 7.) EXIT 8.) EXIT 9.) At the prompt, enter 'cd $PROJECT', and this will get you into the project's home DSL. The file output from '$TOOLS/info utility will be in the project home DSL called 'wellinfo.dat' 10.) At the prompt enter 'exit' to exit out of $TOOLS/info 11.) EXIT until you are out of IES Data Management. To load markers from an ASCII file via IES Data Management 1.) Enter the desired project (Session Manager > Project > Select, select project and enter password) 2.) Session Manager > Application > IES Data Management 3.) ADD data to project 4.) Add WELL data 5.) Add WELLS, PATHS, and/or FORMATION TOPS through CARD IMAGE input 6.) DEFINE operation CONTROL parameters 7.) DEFINE card image format 8.) SAVE card image format definition 9.) INPUT data from DISK (or TAPE) 10.) EXIT 11.) EXIT until you are out of IES Data Management Note: If your markers are in the IESX database, you must first move them to the IES database in order to output the markers to an ASCII file. To get IESX markers into the IES database: 1.) Session Manager > Application > DataManager > Wells > Markers 2.) In the 'Manage Markers' menu, click on the 'Export to IES' button at the bottom central part of the menu. 3.) Select the desired formations, whether you want to send them based on a particular well set or all wells, whether you want to send tvd, time or both types of markers, and select the source. 4.) After making the selections in the previous step, click on the down arrow such that the selections are in the bottom right list box. 5.) Click on the 'Export' button at the bottom of the menu and the markers will be exported to the IES database. * IES Data Management is not a Motif-based application. Therefore you will use arrow keys and the Return key on your keyboard rather than the mouse. . To move across a screen and toggle through options, use the left and right arrow keys . To activate your selection(s) and return to the preceding screen, move the cursor to EXIT and press Return on your keyboard. . To return to the preceding screen without activating your selection(s), move the cursor to QUIT and press Return on your keyboard.
