How to delete a portion of a sonic log. In the solution both the graphical and keyboard edit will be defined.


Solution:
The differences are, graphical edits aren't as exact as a keyboard edit. Keyboard edits allow you to type in the exact depth range to edit, graphical is a click on the screen edit. 1.) From the Session Manager > Enter LPView > Then select your well that contains the log curve you want to edit > Change Default Well #5, select the well from the List or from a basemap. Graphic Edit: 2.) Select Log Preperation #2 > Edit Log #1 > Graphic Edit #1 3.) Choose the edit function by entering > Change edit Function #3 > Invalidate (NIL) #3. By choosing 'Invaldate (NIL) this allows you to edit a gap and fill that gap with (NIL) values (-999.25). 4.) Choose the curve or curves you want to edit > Choose Curve Set #1 > restore/edit curves #4 to display them to the screen. 5.) Click MB1 to begin the edit, then click MB1 at the begin and end of the edit zone, MB3 to break, for multiple edits, and MB3 to exit the edit. 6.) To apply the corrections choose > Apply Correction #6 7.) To save the edited curves select > Save curves #2 > Select curve you edited and exit > save data > enter description KeyBoard: 1.) Select Log Preperation #2 > Edit Log #1 > Keyboard Edit #2 2.) Choose the edit function > NIL #11 > By choosing (NIL) this allows you to edit a gap and fill that gap with (NIL) values (-999.25). 3.) Choose the curve you want to edit (single curve only) > Change Curves #2 4.) To edit choose > parameters #1, type in the start and end of the edit zone (single zone only) > Compute/Display #3 to display them to the screen with the edits applied. 5.) To save the edited log go to > Save Data #5 > Save Data #1 > enter a description and hit return. This will append a "NILLED" to the log name. If there is already a "NILLED" log you will be prompted to enter a new name or overwrite the existing log.
