How to create depth maps in BasemapPlus
Description:
Solution:
In order to create a depth grid in Basemap Plus you must construct a velocity
grid by which you will multiply your time grid. The result will be the depth
grid.
The steps are as follows.
1) Grid a time horizon and save the grid;
2) Post boreholes;
3) Create and save surface penetrations (markers) of the gridded surface in
Tools > Surface Penetrations;
4) Post penetrations (markers) in TVDSS in Post > Interpretation > Markers and
grid them in Gridding, then save the grid;
5) Post penetrations (markers) in TWT in Post > Interpretation > Markers and
grid them in Gridding, then save the grid;
6) Using Binary Operations, divide grid 4 by grid 5 to generate a velocity grid;
Save this velocity grid as well.
7) Using Binary Operations, multiply velocity grid 6 by time grid 1 to generate
your depth grid.
Note: Watch the units for your depth map. They are now in thousands of feet
or meters.
