Topic:
How to copy interpretation using Interpretation Merge and related tips.
Description:
You can copy interpretation from one project to another using IESX DataManager > Intepretation > Merge.
Solution:
Before you begin, be aware that: -Horizon interpretation and the fault contacts are merged by Line name and CDP number, not by XY coordinates. This is important when it comes to 3D surveys, as the survey numbering may be different, in which case the interpretation will appear in the wrong location. The offset option is used when mergeing interpretation where the destination survey has different line/cdp numbering than the source survey. For example, if the source survey starts at line 120 for the same seismic data, enter 20 as a line offset. The source interpretation is biased by +20 before transfer; the result is to place interpretation for the source line 100 a the target line 120 position. CDP/SP offsets work similarily. -Fault cuts and fault traces are merged by XY coordinates. -The fault cuts and traces should be merged first, so when the horizons and fault contacts are merged the fault contacts can be assigned to the correct fault. Procedure 1.) Select DataManager > Interpretation > Merge. 2.) Select the surveys and lines to be merged. 3.) For 2D data when merging fault cuts and traces, select only one survey and only one line from that survey. This is because the fault traces are associated with a horizon; if you choose 100 2D lines, you will have 100 fault traces and cuts overlaying each other. If you have made this mistake, you can run iesx_utils.csh to delete duplicate fault traces, cuts, and contacts. (See IESX_Util section for more information.) 4.) Select the horizons and faults from the source project to be merged. 5.) Select the output survey for the target project.
