How to delete the Save Session files.
Description:
Solution:
What the save session files do:
The save session files keep track of window placements, settings of parameters
within windows, which horizons and faults are posted and which seismic lines
are currently being displayed. These parameters are stored when the user
closes the Session Manager and chooses to exit rather than quit. The next time
IESX is launched and the user chooses to continue from the Session Manager,
then the window states will be restored to the last saved session.
Reasons for deleting save session files:
Sometimes one or more of the eight files which are used to store session
settings get corrupted. There are several ways in which these files become
corrupted but the most important one is where users log into more than one
project at a time. This is a cardinal sin and is strongly discouraged as the
results could often be more severe than just the loss of the save session
files. The problem with doing this is that both projects are trying to store
parameters to files located in the same place which are already open for
writing by another project and so the session state cannot be saved.
How to delete the save session files:
1) From any Xterm or C-shell cd to /home/gqs/iesx_config/username.
2) Delete all eight files listed in this directory.
3) Get back into IESX which will pop up a message saying 'User Area Does Not
Exist' and a default one will be generated (this is just a warning and
no cause for concern).
