Topic:
How to load a DVT and associate to previously loaded wells.
Description:
How to load a DVT using iesx format, or manually creating a DVT to associate to existing wells.
Solution:
There are 2 ways to load DVT pairs loaded into IESX. The first is through a file in an IESX format. 1.) You would load the file through DataManager > Wells > Load wells. In the center of this window, enter the directory and filename. 2.) Make sure the buttons at the top of this window are set correctly. Note: If the file only contains DVT, then only the DVT button needs to be clicked on. 3.) When you are ready, press 'View' to verify file, then select 'Load'. A logfile is created in the user's home directory with prefix wldr* to check for any load errors. The second way to load DVT's are manually hand entering the pairs. 1.) Go to Data Manager > Wells > Time/Depth. 2.) At the top, type in a 'Relation name', click the appropriate 'Relation type'. 3.) Click the appropriate time button either for 1-way or 2-way, check your 'Depth units', 'Depth index', 'Velocity units', then check to see that all the 'Datums' information is correct. 4.) Under 'Depth value' and 'Time value' the first pair entered must be: 0,0. 5.) Click the 'Accept' button. The pairs will drop down into the window below. 6.) When you are all done, press the 'Create' button at the bottom. If at any time you realize you made a mistake in the pairs, just click the offending DVT pair, press the 'Delete' button and then re-enter the values, then press the 'Insert' button. Now that you have the DVT pairs loaded, either through a file or manually entered, you will want to associate them to your wells. 1.) Data Manager > Wells > Well + T/D 2.) You can either select all the wells or you can pick through the wells under the window marked 'Select well(s)'. 3.) Select the DVT name under 'Select a time-depth relation'. 4.) Click on the Associate down arrow button. 5.) You will see the wells associated to a time-depth relation drop to the box below called 'Well + active DVT'. 6.) Click on the 'Update' button at the bottom and the well(s) will now be associated to a time-depth relationship.
