IESX 10.2 How to copy fault traces from one horizon to another using Export/Import.
Description:
You may use DataManager > Interpretation > Import and Export to copy fault traces from one horizon to another. There are two methods of copying fault traces from one horizon to another. The first and easiest method is the one discussed here--that is, to use DataManager and export fault traces to an ASCII file and then import them. The second method is to use Mapview, see "How to copy fault traces from one horizon to another using MapView" under MapView.
Solution:
Procedure to copy fault traces from one horizon to another: 1.) Export the fault traces using Data Manager > Interpretation > Export. 2.) Choose an export format (either ftr.ifdf for feet or ftrm.ifdf for meters.) 3.) Select the horizon and the faults which are to be exported. 4.) Enter a file name, or full path and file name. If only file name is entered then it will be written to user's home directory. 5.) Import the fault traces using DataManager > Interpretation > Import. 6.) Select the same format which was used to export the fault traces. 7.) Enter the full path and file name of the file containing the exported fault traces. 8.) Click on 'View' to see if the file can be read and looks like the correct file. 9.) Selection of the override input button will make all the columns below available. For fault trace copy, select the horizon you want to import the fault trace to. This will ignore the horizon name that is in the export file. 10.) Click on Import. View the results on Basemap by posting the fault traces for the new horizon.
