How to create a depth map entering velocity points manually.
Description:
Solution:
To create the velocity grid: 1.) Select > Horizon > select horizon and time attribute. 2.) Edit > Edit Points > Add - Add all points for the velocity xyz field. 3.) Histogram Edit - Draw the range to delete of TIME values (Note: The histogram chart will NOT display the newly added velocity points, you will only see the histogram values for the time surface), click on Exit in the lower right corner of the screen and then click on the Delete option on the menu. The velocity points you added will then display and all the time values will be filtered out. - Click on the 'up' arrow. Save it. 4.) Select the xyz file you just saved using Select > Read xyz. 5.) Save/Update > Update. - Type in surface name. - Update the units of the velocity grid from time to Ft/Sec. - Toggle save points to yes and exit. 6.) Grid velocity. Up-arrow > Edit > Grid Contour, set parameters and exit. 7.) Select time horizon and grid. 8.) Multiply time and velocity grids by selecting Grid Operations > Combine. - Grid operation toggle to multiply. - Scale #1 units leave to none. (defaults to grids units). - Scale for Grid #2 (velocity) leave to 1. - Scale #2 units leave to none. (defaults to grids units) - Scale for Grid #1 (time) type in .5 (compute one-way time) - Input Grid toggle to List. - Resultant Surface Name, type in name. - Final Grid Output - Grid #1 Fault Handling and Grid #2 Fault Handling need to be set if have fault traces. - Grid Extent Handling - determine which grid extent to use and exit. - Select the velocity grid, select yes to make current data. - Select the time grid, select yes to make current data. - Select the contour icon to display.
