Topic:
How to deallocate a locked project ?
Description:
Solution:
A message will indicate that the current 'project' data area is allocated and which 'user' it is allocated by. The most common reasons that 'Project' data area could be locked are : 1.) Another user is accessing the same project. 2.) The last time a user was accessing the project it was not closed out cleanly. In this case the 'project' data area needs to be cleared. If the project is allocated by the current user : 1.)Dismiss the message and close the Session Manager. 2.)From the IESX Application window,Select type 'By project' and select the project from the list. 3.)Click on 'Deallocate data area',in the top left hand corner, before re-starting IESX. If the project is allocated by a different user, file permissions will not permit the above option : 1.)Check that the user is not currently accessing the project. If another user is currently accessing the project and the project is 'cleared' and accessed by a second user, irrepairable damage will be caused to the project. 2.)Dismiss the message and close the Session Manager. Either request that the user who has the project allocated, deallocates the data area for you, hence making sure that the project is not currently being used : 1.)From the IESX Application window,Select type 'By project' and select the project from the list. 2.)Click on 'Deallocate data area',in the top left hand corner. Or,after having checked that project is definatly not currently being accessed it can be 'force' cleared in an IESX Xterm.Use this option with care. 1.)Start an IESX Xterm from Geonet 2.)At the prompt, type > $CL -f 'project_name'
