Topic:
How to combine parts of logs to form a single log (do not shift depths)?
Description:
I like the second log run most places, but the hole washed out and this second log has some bad segments. I'd like to replace those parts with segments from the first run. How can I do this graphically?
Solution:
1.) LPView > Log Preparation #2 2.) Edit Log #1 > Graphic Edit #1 3.) Select the well that contains your logs > Change Well #2, from the basemap or list > Choose the curves to operate on (up to eight) > Choose Curve Set #1. Note: The order of curves choosen are how they are displayed from left to right. 4.)Change the edit function to "merge" > Change Edit Function #3 > Merge #5 5.) Restore/Edit Curves #4, displays the curves to the screen and puts you at the edit menus. 6.) Click MB1 on Edit/Merge #1 to start > It is now a point and click edit, MB1 will pick, MB2 unpicks, MB3 brings up the popup options, break allows you to edit multiple zones, exit terminates the edit, quit will quit and not keep any edits, Del. ALL deletes all edits so you can start over. 7.) Example edit: If log run one is in the left most track and log run two is in the right most log track and I wanted to add the bottom portion of log run two to log run one. You would click MB1 over the top portion of log run one, MB3 to get the popup window, click on "break", go to log run two and click MB1 over the bottom portion I want to add to log run one, click MB3 to get the popup, exit. 8.) Apply Correction #6 > Now the left most log becomes the ouput edited version. 9.) If you are satisfied with the edit: Save Data #5 to save the ouput > Select the curve > Save data #1. This appends "Merge" to the log name. If there is already a "Merge" appended you will be prompted to create a new name or overwrite the original name. Note: There is an option to save the edits to be used on other logs: Save Edits #3. Retrieve Edits #4 will retrieve those edits to be used again on other logs.
