Topic:
How to block a log curve.
Description:
This option allows you to block log curves and control the layer thickness with user defined parameters or also allows you to digitize your block log with mouse button clicks.
Solution:
1.) LPView > Log Preparation #2 2.) Edit Log #1 > Graphic Edit #1 > Change Edit Function #3 > Block #6 3.) Select well that contains the curve or curves you want to block > Change Well #2, select from the basemap or list. 4.) Next select the curve or curves you want to block (up to eight per edit) > Choose Curve Set #1 (The first curve selected is the reference curve. All other curves will be blocked with the same depth intervals as the reference curve.) 5.) Restore/Edit Curves #4, displays the curves graphically 6.) Set the blocking parameters in > Parameters #5 > Parameters #1 : 1.) Minimum layer thickness, in depth units this sets the minimum layer thickness 2.) Fitting window thickness, in depth units this looks at the curve values inside the fitting window (a sliding window) and blocks the curve(s) using the average value in the fitting window 3.) Fraction Change Allowed in RMS level, if the RMS level of the curve doesn't fit within the fraction change set, the edit will be straight lined 4-5.) Beginning and ending depths in the edit 6.) Percent Paging (of the current view), display only option 7.) Autoblock mode (yes or no), 'yes' uses the parameters set in this menu, 'no' allows you to use MB1 to digitize the blocking on your log manually 8.) Display Formation Tops (yes/no), to display formation tops created or loaded in IESX you must export them to IES. Exit parameters. 7.) Restore Curves #7 to display the curves > Click MB1 on Edit/Block #1 > digitize the depth range with MB1 > MB3 brings up a popup window that you can exit to terminate the edit > Apply Correction #6 to apply the edits. 8.) If you are satisfied with the edit: Save Data #5 to save the ouput > Select the curve > Save data #1. This appends "block" to the log name. If there is already a "block" appended you will be prompted to create a new name or overwrite the original name.
