Topic:
How to copy fault trace to another horizon.
Description:
The user would like to compare the fault traces on a given horizon with those
of another horizon.
Solution:
A fault trace created in Basemap may be transfered between horizons by
exporting the fault trace to an ASCII file and then importing the fault trace to the
other horizon (see below for the proper procedure). Alternatively, fault traces
can be copied from horizon to horizon via the MapView application (to do the fault
trace copy in MapView, check the HowTo website entries for MapView).
To export the fault trace to an ascii file:
1.) Session Manager > Application > DataManager > Interpretation > Export
2.) In the 'Export interpretation data' menu, at the top left, click on the
'Select/define format' button; select the 'ftr.ifdf' (if project is in feet) or
the 'ftrm.ifdf' (if project is in meters) format definition file, and then click
the 'Ok' button
3.) At the central right of the menu, select the horizon which was posted in the
Basemap , and at the bottom right of the menu, select the fault (step #5 above
when drawing the fault trace); click on the 'Export' button at the bottom of the
menu
4.) A progress box will open, and when finished, a message box will open with
the name of the ASCII file containing the information.
To import the fault trace to a different horizon:
1.) Session Manager > Application > DataManager > Interpretation > Import
2.) In the 'Import Interpretation Data' menu, click on the 'Select format'
button; select the 'ftr.ifdf' (if project is in feet) or the 'ftrm.ifdf' (if
project is in meters) format definition file, and then click the 'Ok' button.
3.) Click on the 'Override input' toggle at the upper left of the menu; the
list boxes in the 'Override list boxes' menu will then become sensitized; in
the 'Horizon' list box, select the horizon which you want the fault traces
copied into.
4.) In the 'Directory/Filename to view/load' text box enter the file name
output from step #4 from the ASCII export; click on the 'Load' button
