Topic:
How do I copy 2d trace data from one project to another, and maintain class designation.

Description:
I have two projects for an area, both containing the same 2D survey. The first was loaded with more than one hunderd lines, and the second was loaded with only a few lines, which became available after I had been working in the first project. I would like all of the seismic trace data to reside in one project.

Solution:
Here are the steps for getting all of your 2D lines into the same project. We'll call the project with the majority of lines project "whopper", and the project with just a few lines project "dinky". 1.) Bring both projects online (using project patch or project rename), making sure both projects have different names. 2.) From whopper, share (DataManager > Seismic > Share > Select Project (dinky) and Select Volume, and click the share button) each class from dinky. *Note that you are ready to work at this point, if you do not mind leaving both projects on the system. If you want to consolidate all seismic into one project, follow steps 3 through 8. 3.) DataManager > Copy > Select survey, select 2D line(s), select input class (select one class of data for the lines (for example - "stack")), type in output class name (input something like "stackcopy" (make it similar to your input class name, because this will become your output class)), click generate. 4.) If you have more than one class of data for the lines in dinky, repeat step 3 for each class. 5.) Once you have finished copying all of the classes for the lines into whopper from dinky, unshare (DataManager > Seismic > Share > Select Volume(s) - then click Unshare) all of the volumes. 6.) Select Change Class from the DataManager, then under Volumes to change, select the survey, first line name, and "stackcopy" for the class. For Output Seismic Class, select "stack", then click on Change. Repeat this for each line and class of data you copied from dinky to whopper, or if you will be changing all the lines in that class to stack, you can go to DataManager > Utilities > Rename, toggle 'Item type' to Seismic class, select stackcopy under Seismic classes, under New name just delete the letters off you don't want, then press the Rename button. 7.) The seismic data has now been copied and the correct class name has been maintained. You will want to unshare project dinky from whopper, DataManager > Seismic > Share, select dinky from remove outgoing references and press the 'Unshare' button. 8.) Now clean up the project. DataManager > Utilities > Delete > toggle 'Item Type' to Seismic Classes, select "stackcopy" under Unused Seismic Classes (and any other temporary classes you may have created), and click on the 'Delete' button. Remember, if you don't want to go through steps 3-8, this will run fine shared.
