Topic:
How to rotate text entries (e.g., labels for path names).
Description:
When a rectangular (or any) path is created and posted along with the label, the path name is posted in a default location. In some cases, this label interferes with other interpretaion (i.e., wells).
Solution:
To enter horizontal text in a designated location, use Basemap and add the text as a cartographic layer: 1.) Session Manager > Application > Basemap 2.) Mode > Map Edit 3.) Click the 'Add annotation' toggle, choose an active layer and click the 'Dismiss' button 4.) Click MB1 where you would like the text entered 5.) Enter text note: The text can be moved with Mode > Map Edit (turn on the 'Move cartographic data' toggle, use MB1 on the map to select the text to move, it will highlight, and then click MB1 a second time at the new location for the text). To enter angled text in designated location, use MapView and add the text as cartography: 1.) Session Manager > Application > Surface Modeling > MapView 2.) SELECT > HORIZON; select a horizon from the list, then an attribute; click on the grid/contour icon to post the horizon 3.) SAVE/UPDATE > SKETCH CARTOGRAPHY > SELECT LAYER; choose a layer from the list 4.) TEXT; click MB1 on the 'TEXT' box and "ANGLE" box at the right margin for the desired angled text; type in the desired text and hit the Return key on your keyboard; click MB1 on the map at the location where you want the text 5.) In Basemap, create new map content, appearance, and picture files with the new cartographic layers added in. (For details on creating new map files, see the web entry for 'How to post a seismic survey on the Basemap', but add in the cartographic layer rather than the seismic survey layer.)
