How to bulk shift a DVT.
Description:
How to apply a shift to a DVT so that logs and markers can be displayed on
the seismic, shifted by a specified amount. This is a workaround for a bug in
Checkshot Operations under Save Synthetic data.
Solution:
To create a DVT with a shift of say 100 msec., in the Synthetics module >
Mode Synthetics, Bulk shift (msec) enter 100 and click Apply. The synthetic
traces should be shifted by 100 msec. Put the pointer in the synthetic traces
track, click MB3 > Save...
Click on the synthetic name under Available Synthetics, toggle on Create new
checkshot from sonic, give it a name and description, toggle on Preferred then
click on Save.
A new DVT will be created from the sonic log being used in the synthetics
panel. This will display logs in an external log panel shifted by 100 msec. The
markers may or may not be shifted depending on whether there are time values
for the markers under Seismic Time Pick. Check a Marker Data Manager for this.
Note that the synthetic traces are now permanently shifted by 100 msec. To
remove this shift, go back to Mode Synthetics, remove the bulk shift and click
Apply. Use File>Save synthetic data to resave the synthetic traces without
the shift.
