How to remove the 'Depth vs Time' track or other tracks from the synthetic layout.

Solution:
Click on File > Layout.  Select the desired layout from the 'Available layouts' 
section of the 'Layout appearance definition' menu.  In the 'Selected types' 
list, click MB1 on 'Depth vs Time' (or another desired track) such that it is 
highlighted.  At the far right of the menu, click the blue button 'Remove'.  The 
'Depth vs Time' (or other desired track) will then be removed from the 'Selected 
types' list.  Continue to select the desired track and then the 'Remove' button 
until you have removed all the desired tracks.  Then click the 'Update' button 
at the bottom of the menu.  Click the 'Activate' button at the bottom of the 
menu to display the updated layout.

Some tracks cannot be removed from the layout menu (for example,
wavelet track), but they can be removed from Mode> Synthetics
