Topic:
How to upgrade user defined colormaps (colorbars) from 10.2 to GeoFrame.
Description:
User defined colormaps (colorbars) are deleted in the project upgrade from IESX 10.x to GeoFrame. GeoFrame colorbars in Basemap and Seis3DV/2DV both contain the same size colormaps, 65 colors, and share these. In IESX 10.2, the Basemap colormap was only 24 colors, while the Seis3DV/2DV colormap was 31 colors.
Solution:
If you have already upgraded your 10.x project without making a copy first, then you will have to restore the 10.x project using Project_Rename before proceeding. Procedures for executing each step are found below. 1.) Export the colormap from IESX 10.x by using IESX 10.x version of IESX Utilities, option #36, colormap import/export. 2.) Import the colormap into GeoFrame by using IESX GeoFrame version of IESX Utilities, option #36, colormap import/export. 3.) It is necessary to manually fill in the colorbar since it either came in with 24 colors (from Basemap) or 31 colors (from Seismic). The reason for exporting and importing the colormaps instead of completely recreating them is that the RGB values which you had set for your user defined colorbar in IESX 10.x are now available when you edit the colorbar. In most cases, you can start from the right of the colorbar and expand it out by first setting the rightmost block to the same RGB value as the rightmost color which was imported. Usually your imported colorbar will occupy the 24 (or 31) leftmost blocks of the GeoFrame colorbar with the rest of the colorbar being black. ----------------------------------------- Example for using IESX Utilities option #36 (IESX 10.2 and GeoFrame versions). PROCEDURE: 1.) Select iesx_util.csh from Application Selection menu and hit start. (For GeoFrame, select IESX Utilities from Geonet > GeoFrame 3.x) 2.) Select Option 1 - Initialize access to data area. Type in project name and password. 3.) Select data area type = Exploration (This step is not required for GeoFrame Utilities.) 4.) Select Option 36 - Colormap import/export 5.) Select colormap group, colormap from group and Export. 6.) Export will export the colormap to disk file. 7.) Select Option 2 - terminate access to data area 8.) Select Option 99 - exit IESX Utilities Example session below: Enter selection : 36 1) Select colormap group 2) Select colormap from group 3) Export colormap 4) Import colormap from file 99) Return Enter selection : 1 1) SEISMIC 2) BMAP 3) GEOVIZ Enter selection 1 1) Select colormap group 2) Select colormap from group 3) Export colormap 4) Import colormap from file 99) Return Enter selection : 2 Colormaps for group SEISMIC 1) blkwhtyelred 2) bluwhtpink 3) bluwhtred 4) bluwhtyelred 5) greyshades 6) halfblack 7) ken 8) marker 9) phase1 10) purpbluwhtred 11) rainbow 12) redwhtblu 13) spectrum -1) Cancel Enter selection # 1) Select colormap group 2) Select colormap from group 3) Export colormap 4) Import colormap from file 99) Return Enter selection 3 Exporting colormap Exporting to file /user/login/directory/cmap_export.dat 1) Select new filename 2) Append colormap to current filename -1) Return without exporting Enter selection # 1) Select colormap group 2) Select colormap from group 3) Export colormap 4) Import colormap from file 99) Return Enter selection 99 Enter selection 2 and hit return to continue Enter selection 99 ----------------------------------------- Example on how to modify an existing colorbar: To modify an existing colorbar: 1.) Enter Seis3DV/2DV > User > Colorbar; 2.) Select an existing colorbar; 3.) Make the changes on the colorbar and click the 'Update' button. For information on the different options for the colorbar, please refer to the online documentation which can be accessed via Geonet > GeoFrame > GeoFrame Bookshelf. ----------------------------------------- Example of how to share the upgraded colorbar to other GeoFrame projects: 1.) Go to DataManager > Utilities > Import. 2.) Toggle 'Item Type' to Colormap files. 3.) Select the project you want to share colormap files from and provide the password when prompted. 4.) Select the colormap file(s) you want. 5.) Click 'Import'. If the project is not seen on the list, see IESX, IESX Util, 10.2, FAQ for additional options.
