How to display the seismic to match the amplitude spectrum of time slices.
Description:
Time slices and vertical seismic sections have different amplitude displays when
viewed in a chair display. At the intersection of the slice and vertical
section the colors should coincide but do not. How do you get them to coincide?
Solution:
Procedure:
1. Under Define Display Specs in the Seis3DV/2DV window set the Gain Control
"source" to Class.
2. Now the colors on the slice and the vertical section will match.
Explanation:
The time slice data is built by using the entire class of data. The amplitudes
are scaled based on the entire class of data.
The Seis3DV/2DV display specs Gain Control "source" is set to trace by default.
Therefore the gain applied to the traces during display are different than the
time slices and hence the discrepancy.
Setting the Gain Control "source" to class uses the entire volume of data to set
the gain control and therefore it is now set the same as the way the time slices
were built and will display the same.
