Topic:
How to restrict gridding and contouring to a certain area.

Description:

Solution:
There are three ways to restrict the area of data to be gridded, using an Area of interest boundary, an Inclusive data boundary or a Clipping surface boundary. To use an Area of interest boundary: 1. Edit -> Area Of Interest -> Make the polygon using MB1 to add points, and MB2 to undo. 2. Once the polygon is made, MB3 -> Break, to close it, and MB3 -> Save. Put in the name and discription in the popup-box and click OK. Once this is done, only interpretation withing the Area of interest boundary will be posted. 3. Grid the interpretation. To use an Inclusive data boundary: 1. Edit -> Boundaries -> Inclusive Data -> Make the polygon using MB1 to add points, and MB2 to undo. 2. Once the polygon is made, MB3 -> Break, to close it, and MB3 -> Save. Put in the name and discription in the popup-box and click OK. 3. Now go to Gridding -> Input Data -> in the Modeling Constraints box click on Inclusive Data boundaries and then select the input as you would other wise do for gridding. Click OK and grid as you normally would. This will create a grid using the data points within the Inclusive Data boundary. To use a Clipping surface boundary: 1. Edit -> Boundaries -> Clipping Surface -> Make the polygon using MB1 to add points, and MB2 to undo. 2. Once the polygon is made, MB3 -> Break, to close it, and MB3 -> Save. In the Save Surface boundary popup box, select the surface to associate the boundary with, put in the name and discription and click OK. 3. Go to Gridding -> Input Data -> in the Modeling Constraints box click on Surface clipping boundaries and then select the input as you would other wise do for gridding. Click OK and grid as you normally would. This will create a grid within the Clipping surface boundary. If you have already created these boundaries, you can skip steps 1 and 2 Instead, post the boundaries via Post -> interpretation -> Area of Interest, Inclusive Data Boundaries or Clipping Surface Boundaries -> Select the boundary, click OK and then go onto step 3.
