Topic:
How to delete parts within a grid?
Description:
The saved grid encroaches into fault boundaries or into areas which need to be deleted before proceeding with further operations. How to delete specific parts within a grid.
Solution:
Display the grid in Basemap. If the fault boundaries had been selected while creating the grid, as modeling constraints, these will be posted by default. Go to Gridding => Model Editor. The posted grids will appear in a selection dialog box. Select the grid to be edited. The grid editor box comes up and the grid is displayed as blocks. (you can change display between 'symbol' and 'block'). Polygon mode - Draw a polygon around the data to be edited with MB1 and MB3 break to close. - MB3 Blank/Delete to delete within the polygon. Point mode - Click on a grid point and MB3 Blank/Delete to delete the single grid point. Fault Boundary Mode (Works only if the grid was created with the fault boundaries selected) - Click on the fault boundary to highlight then MB3 to Blank/Delete within. Also in the Grid Editor : - Smoothing function to smooth out the grid. - Interpolate function to fill in blank areas within the grid. - Set Z value function - to set a specific Z value for the grid nodes a) defined by a polygon b) within a fault boundary c) the grid node selected by the point method.
