Topic:
How to copy a path from one project to another
Description:
We have two IESX projects running over the same area of interest. Is there an easy way to transfer traverse lines from one to the other without trying to "repick" from X,Y's?
Solution:
There is no easy way to do this. The following is a workaround to copy a path from one project to another: 1. Display the path you want to export. 2. Zoom out to get all the traces on the screen. You may need to decimate. 3. Enter one fault cut on a new 'fault' across the complete section. Just one click on the left time annotation, and one on the right. You can do this for all paths, and do it with the same fault name. 4. Go to DataManager -> Interpretation -> Export and export the 'fault' to an ASCII file. Each bend point on the path will be an X,Y,Z point in the ASCII file. 5. Import this 'fault' into the other project using Interpretation -> Import. 6. Display a line intersecting the 'fault' in Seis3DV. Make the 'fault' active. 7. Edit the fault by clicking on the crossposted symbol or segment. It should say "Selected cut is not in plane. Would you like to display the line/slice on which this cut was originally defined? Say yes to display it. 8. Then do a Define->Save path... to name the traverse and save it. 9. Find the intersecting lines for the other fault cuts you entered and repeat step 7 and 8.
