How to use auto contact generation in Seis%DV.

Solution:
Auto Contact Generation is a choice under 
User > Preferences in the Seis%DV window.
Click Auto Contact Generation to On and click apply or OK to accept.

Auto contacts are generated as fault segments are interpreted on the
Seis%DV canvas.
The horizon(s) must be picked prior to the fault.
The contact is generated if the fault segment being interpreted
falls less than one trace away from the interpretation.
If the fault segment is interpreted further than one trace from the 
interpreted horizon the contact is not generated automatically.

Note: 
Contacts will not be generated automatically while in Horizon Interpret mode.
