[Journal entry for September 19, 2017; Quincy Bog Natural Area].  As part of Springwater Fieldtrip H17, Dallas and I stopped at Quincy Bog Natural Area, Rumney New Hampshire.  We parked at the lot at the end of Quincy Bog Road and walked partway around the wetland along a trail that was party dirt and partly over puncheons. The late afternoon sun illuminated the bog well, with pleasant amber hues from the marsh grass and a little red from maples in the woods along the margin.  The “bog” is more of a “marsh”, since the primary vegetation is grass, not moss.  The center of the wetland is flooded, perhaps due to beaver activity, for a lodge sits in the middle of the open water and a dam spans a tributary stream.  Water lily and grass hummocks grow in the water.  Fern and occasional Winterberry grow along the shore.  About 0:40.
