Budget Justification

We request 0.5/1/1 month of summer salary in years 1/2/3 for W.M., 0.5/1/1 months of salary for S.C.W.. and 1/1/1 year of stipend and tuition remission for a GRA, who will assist the PI's in data analysis and interpretation. A small amount of administrative support (0.5/0.5/0.5) is requested to assist with the cruise-related logistics and with library research asscociated with journal article preparation.

Expenses related to the deployment and operation of the OBS seismometer array include: travel to/from Woods Hole, MA, and includes car rental, per diem, sea pay and data tapes. Two separate cruises will be required to deploy and recover the OBS's.

Expenses related to data analysis include a subscription the the LDEO computer network and printing charges.

Expenses related to the dissemination of information include page charges for color printing, a journal article and travel for 2 persons to a scientific meeting in years 2 and 3, where results will be presented.

We also request funds for communication and miscellanous supplies.
